Went out this morning and got eaten up by bugs
Deep woods off isn't deep enough!:biteme:

I have had good luck with the sweat resistant Off. Dryer sheets are worthless. Avon makes a lotion for dry skin that works great I hear.

Pure Vanilla Extract would be several dollars for a small bottle. Artifical Vanila Extract would be far cheaper, but would it work?

go to a drug store and get "skin so soft" by avon!
it's your secret weapon against bugs!..they won't go any where near ya!

I use OFF "Skintastic". I like it because it isn't oily and it works for me. It needs reapplication sometimes and if the bugs are bad or I don't want to carry it with me I will use something with Picardin init, it seems to work better. Then I also have a small spray bottle of some 90+% DEET that works well and for a LONG time but I only use it if things are really bad. I have found that mosquitos can find the one square inch of skin that you missed and they always go first for the elbows and behind the knees. It is weird, it's like they know to attack places where you can't wee them... then there are those that are so "excited" that they just land on the first place they can get to... they die a quick death, I just have to be careful to not hunt myself slapping them. I almost hit myself in the head with my relic shovel once... not thinking, just reacting to some flying thing.

Vanilla extract?? I've never tried that. I think I still have a bottle of that mexican vanilla extract. My parents used to go down there in their RV, like 15 years ago. They would buy these huge bottles of vanilla extract, quart bottles because it was cheap but .. well. it tastes cheap too IMO.. but it might work to repel mosquitos, it repelled me. I usually buy Spice Islands brand Madagascar vanilla extract... yummy. I wonder though that even if it repels mosquitos that.. could it attract bees or even worse... BEARS? ... just saying.
