Cache, my first and only- Quite an adventure !

Back in 2000 I was real green at metal detecting. Anyways a friend of mine had just aquired some land. Bill asked me if I wanted to hunt around a old dwelling he was going to bulldose over. Well, early on Saturday I shot out there to find my fortune. The old house was collapsed, leaving the chimney the only thing standing. I started in the front, it was pretty slow, finding only a couple of Wheats and a old key. Now in the back it looked alot better. There was a old clothes line, outhouse,a line of fence posts and a big Oak tree. Still, nothing much till just past the Ole Oak, paydirt. I hit a real clear signal, in the quarter range. It was clear as a bell even tho deep. So I carefully started to clear a hole, and after checking a couple of times I came to a small wooden box. Well I got to tell ya, I'm getting a little worked up by now. I got the box out in one piece and gave it a shake, there was something rattleing around in thar. After prying off the lid, I found that some thing was sewn into a bag of sort. I checked it again, and it sure sounded hot! So with shaking hands, I opened the bag and dumped the contents. Out rolled a Silver tag and a bunch of bones! The tag read Fluffy --I had dug up someones Cat ! I quickly looked around to see if anyone had witnessed this awful deed. With speed and respect I replaced Fluffy and her tag, and after tamping everything down, I put a end to this adventure.

Ha Ha Ha!
Fooled by the old 'pussy in a box' ploy eh? Well, don't feel bad, its probably the first fresh air Fluffy's had in a while...

Geez, you just made me remember. I built a wood box, and buried our cat, "BC", in it, on a property we lived at back in the 80's. Wonder if the new owners ever went metal detecting there. He's buried under a tree in the back yard :detecting:

... Too funny!

I only have one thing to say..... at least if you ever run run out of money you'll know where to find some silver.

Hey welcome to the crowd. I've dug up a couple of buried pets and put them back in their resting place. But it does give one a buzz for a moment or two.

Yep! Been there. Done that. I hate when that happens, but searchin' those old yards for silver it's gonna happen from time to time. Just make sure that you check again under neath where that pet tag was. I've heard of caches being found under buried pet before. Never been my luck, though. Just place them back in their final resting place. Rest in peace, Fluffy:goodnight:

:usmc: Honestly, I have never given a thought to that kind of back yard possibility.

Garrett will have to add a identification feature to indicate pet graves:angel:.
