Can somebody exlain this Etrac happening?

This was the setup. Back yard of house. I have dug alot of coins and junk out of it. Anyway, I started out in the Minelab coin mode. Conduct, auto sensitivity, deep off, fast recovery. Going along just fine and then I switched to the sizing pinpoint mode.

At this point within a few minutes, twice the Etrac wihile in the pinpoint mode to actually pinpoint an object the Etrac locked up like it was centered over an object no matter where it was at. Waist high, over my head, if you get the point. I had to pwr the Etrac down and start over and it would do the same thing. I did this routine for a few more minutes and then placed it back into the normal mode. Everything fine now.

I maybe am not getting how the sizing mode works. Does anybody use this sizing mode and what am I doing wrong.

Thanks in advance.

I use sizing but never have seen the problem you are experiencing. Assuming you are starting your pinpointing away from the target and then scanning over the target until the loop leaves the influence of the target, it shouldn't act the way you describe. I'd probably check to make sure all the connections are still tight just to rule out the obvious (loop to Sun Ray probe box is you have one and/or the connection to the main control box).

It almost sounds like the button is sticking down. Is that possible? I have never experianced this but you may want to search past posts for information about other etracs haveing that.
Sorry bro but doesnt sound good to me.

that tends to happen when you hit pp top dead center of a target. cant explain why but i have seen that and to fix it i just hit pp with my coil off to the side of were i think the target is. my fishers did it to sometimes so it wasn't a surprise when the etrac did it.
