Careless recovery results

Hey, I thought it might be interesting to see the damaged coins that we all have caused while being careless, especially with an iffy target. I know I have had a few in the last year on decent coins, lets see yours. It's funny, I always refer to the damage as a birthmark, just for fun... Actually trying to hide the shame and disappointment that I feel after the fact. I will post mine also. HH Mike

Here's four. The barber made me sick, as I have only found 2 to date. Also, had a merc bent in half, but sure it was caused by plow. Let's see em guys! HH Mike

The 1900 Barber Half was on edge at about seven inches deep. Didn't see the edge
of the coin in low light just after dusk. Sure scratched up the front with me digger.
The 1830 Bust Dime was between two twisted maple tree roots. I pried the roots
apart with my digger expecting to see a wheatie or memorial cent. Scratched the
reverse pretty bad.

yeah we've all done it!...i always 'check" myself mentally when i get a good hit,
and proceed with caution! don't care if it takes mwe forever to recover it,just so long as i DON'T damage it!
besides! i am retired, and got tons of time anyway!..just sayin'

Oh, those are painful to see.

Yep, done a few myself. Last damaged coin wasn't my fault though. Someone had dug for it before, scratching and turning it sideways. Its a balancing act in most locations.... Don't want to scratch but you don't want to dig giant holes. All it takes is co-located targets, or a coin on angle to throw your pinpointing off center.
