Chatter

Although you have only just got the Deus,it would be a tremendous help for folks to try and help if we had some indication on what settings you are using and also had you just fired it up inside your house or outside, anything like that always helps.

Its probably something simple, but to try and get some more precise help,we also need a little more precise information from yourself.

Always check your GB and understand it

there is chatter in the house and outside sometimes from power lines. the other type of chatter is if there is lots of targets or junk under the coil and you hear all of that. until we know what you call chatter and your settings thats all we can do for you now...

Something to note, that I learned the hard way, is to make sure your detector is away from all metal objects as it calibrates when you power it on. I usually hold my arm straight out as I power it on and wait until the calibration light settles into normal flashing.

Two suggestions:

Lower the sensitivity from normal default of around 90 to closer to 80

set discrim a bit higher in the beginning..from 33 to 40 maybe?

See if that helps.

The Deus does tend to be a bit on the chatty side..but with experience it's not a problem.

I get so much chatter from power/phone lines in my yard that it is almost unusable there. I have run into a few sites with similar situations and powerlines nearby. I have played a lot with settings trying to reduce or eliminate it. The only thing I've found that helps is to lower the reactivity. The default Deus Fast program, as well as any program with a higher Reactivity speed than 1 will cause an almost unbearable amount of noise in those places. Sensitivity, ground balance, and frequency seem to have no bearing at all (well, Frequency does have some effect on the loudness and speed of the chatter).
