I haven't been online very much the past four days so I thought I'd check in. Still not feeling well and would appreciate any prayers you can send my way. I have had a fever since early Friday morning, along with the body aches that often go along with being sick. No chills, but staying cold most of the time. No other symptoms other than an occasional headache. I am almost never sick and even when I am I don't usually go to the doctor - but I went today. Only reason I decided to go is because I've got only one kidney and figured I'd best get checked out just to be on the safe side since I have had kidney infections in the past with very similar symptoms. Went to a "Doc in a Box" (walk-in clinic) and the dr turned out to be an idiot. He didn't even "listen" when I was trying to explain the kidney thing and before he even looked in my ears, nose and throat, he told me I probably just had a cold. I told him that I did NOT have a cold, that I was not stuffy or runny, didn't have a sore throat, ears do not hurt, no cough, etc. He said, "Well, we are probably just catching it early." Even after he half way checked me out, he said everything looked good, but he was sure I was gonna be coming down with a cold. WHAT????? Anytime I've ever come down with a cold in the past, it was pretty much a done deal within a few hours to 24 hours! It's never taken me four days to come down with one... especially when I didn't have ANY cold symptoms!!!! He knew I was very frustrated with him (that's putting it mildly) and asked if I wanted him to write me a prescription for an antibiotic. I told him that I DID, but what would I be taking it for??????????? He said for a cold or upper respiratory infection. I just laughed at him and told him to please write one that was a "general purpose" antibiotic and hopefully it would zap whatever this is... but it sure isn't a cold or upper respiratory infection. That I didn't want to walk away with nothing after paying $55 just to get back there to see him. When the nurse handed me the prescription, not only was it for an antibiotic, but he had also added a prescription for COUGH SYRUP!!!!! Now, if you ask me, that's about dumb!!!!!

I really feel rough and would appreciate it if y'all would send some prayers my way.

Lisa

Praying you feel well soon.

Doctors "Practice" medicine. If I practiced machining I would be out of a job. There are some good docs though.

Hi Lisa! Glad to see your post and will pray for you to be healed quickly with peace and comfort in Jesus' almighty and powerful amazing love! If you get the cough syrup prescrip filled be sure to ask how much it costs first, as one time the pharmacy was gonna charge me $75.00 for a very small bottle of it! I told them to keep it, as I wasn't able to afford that price! Be sure and check with a good dr, if ill feeling hangs on, as my granddaughter, Sarah, was ill for so long that it took several visits to different drs to find out she has Lyme Disease from a tick bite and will be taking meds the rest of her life, so that she can feel like doing anything....wasn't able to even take care of her two children....one a baby then!

My prayer: Dear Heavenly Father in heaven, you know Lisa's illnesses and since she loves and serves You, please move upon her in Your beloved, Son, Jesus' healing virtue and help her to have strength to be well and whole in Your joy! There is nothing impossible for You to do, and I'm praying for her to be feeling great, soon, and serving You in the capacity that You want her to do in Jesus' mercy and grace with a good report from her, as she gives You the glory and praise for healing now and in the future! Praise God and Thank You, Jesus, and Holy Spirit for it is done according to your will for Your plan for Your child, Lisa! In Jesus' name I pray! Amen! Ma Betty

Green tea, huh? Hmmmmm.... the way that stuff tasted last time I tried to drink some, I was afraid it'd rust my pipes!!!! NASTY stuff, Mike! But if you think it'll help, I'm willing to give it another try.

Hope not, Joe. My last outing was on Friday when I first started feeling bad. But I was already feeling bad before I got out. Ya never know; living out in the boonies and wilderness like we do, I guess it could happen anytime, and not just on an outing.

Hahahahahahahaha! Yeah, I'm hoping that cough doesn't turn into pneumonia!!! At least I have access to some cough syrup if I need it.

By the way, I was in Chattanooga with my daughter last week (Thursday), and thought of you. We ate lunch at Sticky Fingers and then did some shopping over at Hamilton Place.

Hi Lisa, I agree with you but I have found if I put a small amount of sugar and coffee creamer in it, it tastes a little better! I'm not a tea drinker, but am trying to drink it now and then....mostly then! Going to try an get my daughter, Tami, to drink it for her blood and immune system, as she has Fibromyalgia, also, and is taking Vitamin D like me....but have to get mine refilled by dr's permission! May God Bless! It is up to us to have joy unspeakable and full of glory and not the wickedness of satan's sly wiliness and snares! Keep the faith and I know you will! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

My wife has always thought that most doctors don't take females very seriously - always saying they have "female" problems. Hope you get better soon, Steve in so az

Thank you, Ma, for the wonderful prayer! I really DO appreciate it!

I didn't get the cough syrup. I told the lady at Walmart Pharmacy to just put it in the system (in case I need it in the future) but not to fill it now.

I'm hoping I don't have to go back to the doctor again! But if I do, I can assure you that it won't be to that quack! I was ready to punch him in the throat by the time I got outta there yesterday! I don't have a primary care doctor right now. MY doctor moved his practice to Birmingham. Since I really never go to the doctor, I've just never taken the time to "get in with" another primary care provider. I've had dr visits to specialists for the arthritis/fibro and the kidney stuff, but this was actually my first visit due to being sick in several YEARS.

Dear Heavenly Father, The medical establishment may not know or understand what's going on with Lisa but I know You know Lord. In the Name of Jesus, I ask for healing in Lisa's body and that You bring her a sense of peace as well. Thank You Lord for all You're willing to do for our friend in Jesus Name ~ Amen.

Thanks, Steve. I know there are doctors out there like that but I've never been unfortunate enough to get one of those. Wouldn't matter even if I did since I haven't had "female problems" in many, many years. Hysterectomy took care of any possibility of that a looooooooong time ago. Actually, that kind of works both ways, to some degree. I have a casual friend who is a doctor and have heard her say that, "she and many of her female colleagues often joke about not taking men seriously because they whine about everything and think they're dying when they only have a hangnail." So, I reckon it just depends on the attitude and beliefs of the doctor we see as to whether or not they take us seriously - sad, but true.

Lisa

Thanks, I appreciate that!
