Always puts a smile on my face when I see one of these roll out of the fresh dirt. It was 14 degrees Wednesday morning, so I had limited options to hunt. Went to my old faithful ghost town site where I am ledge cutting an old store site. It has apparently been bulldozed and burnt there are lots of bricks pottery glass ware, and charred bits. The nails/iron are a fright with no targets having been found surface detecting in a long time. The button and IHP were in the 6-to-8-inch range with the cut going down to 18 inches. The patina was a blotched green and brown on both pieces probably from fire damage so with little to lose I sanded them both with 600 grit paper, very pleased with the results as now I can at least read the date on the Indian.
