This is not a metal detecting find. This is part of my collection and I thought I would share it. Everyone has seen the movie, Glory, Cpt. Emilio made it over the wall after Col. Shaw was killed. Plenty of history on him.

What a great piece of personal History to have in your collection. Congrat's and Thanks for sharing this with us. Glory was a good movie on the War between the States. I was involved in living history at the time that this was being filmed. My regiment was at Olustee, Florida for the reenactment there. This was one of the largest reenactments held this far east. It was always a big draw, drawing usually around 2 thousand re enactors from across the country. They filmed a small segment of the movie there, the scene where Confetrit Cavalry attacked the 54th Mass. Infantry. I wasn't there during filming but several of the guys from my regiment were there, and they can be spotted in the movie. An awful lot of Florida troops were in the movie, and they always did a good Federal impression. Ray Gerone who was one of the leaders was seen on horseback next to Matthew Broderick viewing Battery Wagner through binoculars just before the attack. Morning colors was always held at the monument there at Olustee. Both Confetrit and Union troops would march in and surround the monument for the presentation of the colors and announcements. Actor Morgan Freeman was there along with some of the other actors. After we were dismissed, we got to shake hands with some of them. It was an honor to shake Morgan Freeman's hand, as I consider him a great actor and a human being.

It was a great movie, along with so many others. Watching The Patriot with Mel Gibson should be mandatory in high school. Our youth can not imagine what our ancestors went through to obtain the freedoms of today. I also have the Gen E A Wild's epaulets that was involved in the 55th ? Mass regiment. A lot of history on him also.
