Civil War POW camp found !

I never heard of this until today. Unbelievable !!

You had one in Chicago too but it is probably under concrete now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_Douglas_(Chicago)
 
That's an amazing story about the Union POW camp in Georgia. It's funny how the archaeologists didn't think anything was there until that graduate student found it (using those "evil" metal detectors). I am glad it was found and the items will be on view for others to see and learn about the site. Thanks for the info.
 
[size=large]what would be of interest is what artifacts don't make it to the museum but end up in some archaeologist's house as part of their personal collection. as opposed to some mad-cap mder finding it and putting it in his/her collection. Archaeologists aren't indy jone'es. just highly paid crooks.
