Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore.
The stakes have been raised.
Judging by the needed shovel I'd guess this won't be suited for parks and tot lots...
I want one anyway!
The overall physical design seems an evolution of a certain top-end Minelab.
A definite game changer with discrimination.
 
I am very interested. A pulse machine with iron audio? Holy cow.

The physical design looks like their military minesweeper.

Comes with a sling so it looks to be on the heavier side.

For the application I have in mind, this one looks like a very promising detector.

Now I want to know the price, but knowing Garrett, it won't break the bank.

looks like a perfect machine but... for me is just off my budget.
 
Out of my budget and needs, but cool to see Garrett break the $2000 dollar mark for a hobby machine.
 
ATX is shaping up to be a pretty good detector from what I have seen so far. Nice response to small gold and seemed to be a very quiet threshold.
The coil mount at the rear might be a bit troublesome in waves; A coil support bracket necessary.
This detector may well be on my Gotta Have list
 
I would be interested to see if it could be purchased stand alone without the accessories (headphones and batteries, etc.). Many of us who have the Infinium already have these.

Dealers, any idea when this will be available?
 
Nothing new cosmetically wise. Looks just like a consumer grade repackaged military grade Garrett Recon made for years.
With a price tag higher than most hobby detectors. Guess it's time for them into put a high price hobby detector on the market.
Since everyone else is pushing the $2000 mark.........................

Guess this blows hopes out of many who where holding off purchasing a new detector waiting for the ATX with a budget ,like me, of less than
$2000.00. How's your military budget?

Quit the part time job so Id have more detecting time.
So its back to work if I want one.
Or for the price of an organ donation and a used ATP...
What exactly does a spleen do, by the way?
 
Lets see....should I sell my Excalibur 2 and my Infinium or my Excalibur 2 and my E-Trac or my E-Trac and Infinium or....Oh shoot....I'd have to sell all three!

Been doing the same mental math and gymnastics. I'm exhausted and need a spreadsheet!
Just as soon s i get it all figured out, Whites and Fisher and everyone else will probably throw their hats in the $2500+ detector ring.
And then where will I be? Stop the madness!
Every time I think I've kicked the habit a new designer drug hits the streets.
 
Looks good, Based from the information it has 4 ground tracking settings. Don't know if this is to an advantage but hope it is? Seen it has a retune just like my Recon but then again mine doesn't have 4 ground tracking settings, With my Recon have to press the return button quite often hope that isn't the case with the new model.

The new ATX does detect the small gold nugget in the video with ease, My Recon won't get that small of a find so it appears the new model is more sensitivity to smaller items. Plus, Appears to be a single tone Pi like the Recon not the two tone found with the Infinium.

Hope this unit does well and there are no issues with having to retune all the time. Plus, Noticed the operator in the video had to go through an extra step to check if it was iron, Hope that is not the case every time one needs to check a high conductive target and that one can hunt in the iron check mode. With my Recon, Single high tone is for low conductive, Single low tone is both iron and high conductive. Appears the new ATX tones didn't change between low and high conductive, Which is good when one is going after single high conductive tones when digging gold/gold jewelry. Do see a need for the iron check feature for Relic hunters, That is a cool must have feature for sure.

Hope it turns out to be a winner, We can sure use this type of Pi for both land and water especially with the extra sensitivity.

i see no difference between it and the recon except the faceplate decal which i asume is do to different programming on the pcb. i wonder if the only difference between the two is programmning and what the possibility would be to get garrett to let someone pay to have the recon either reprogrammed or have them install a new pcb? just curious.. california, how do you like the recon overall? is it a decent machine if someone wanted to get a PI just to mess around with?
 
Garrett has been listening to their customers and critics and this is an adaptable machine, but the price tag is way over my head. I still intend to buy a PI machine, but it will be the sea hunter. I wanted to buy one this fall, but it will have to be next year since I haven't been able to detect much last two months and find anything to pay for it with. Quite a few features on this detector that I like. Now, if Garrett would come out with a small ground penetrating radar machine or side scan sonar for this price, that would be something else.
 
I like the detector but I feel the pricing is on the wrong side of $2000.....it is NOT 2 Infiniums for the price.

$1995 and Garrett might be struggling to keep up with demand ??????

Over $2400 for a detector? That'll be the day. My interest in this machine just completely disappeared. This hobby has gone absolutely insane. Time to check out of the asylum.

Did you notice the coils?
 
I like what I have seen and heard about this new detector.
I sent Garrett an email re purchase price and shipping cost to Australia but have not had a reply yet.
