Club Hunt

Well, I just got done shoveling a lot of snow today and I'm going nuts in the house. I started watching detecting videos. I watched a club hunt. Man there were guys running around everywhere swinging as fast as they could go. It looked like to much work for me. Everyone has different ways to hunt but I enjoy a more relaxed pace. I don't think that kind of hunt would be for me. Rob
 
They remind me of an "adult" easter egg hunt. At one time I felt like you, but after attending one I discovered that they are a lot of fun and I look forward each summer to the two that are close enough to my area for me to attend. The ones I attend let you keep all the planted coins you find besides the incentive of prize tokens and detector drawings. Also, you get to meet and compare stories with a lot of great people that also enjoy the hobby. All in all, a fun time and it doesn't interfere with your regular hunts.

Barber Bill said it all. OH YEAH!!!!! Seeded hunts are fun and I've won many great prizes from tokens, etc. Those silver coins look so pretty in the dirt and in my pouch! Oh, and my fingrnails work so good at 'picking' them out of the ground! :bouncy: You've got to swing that coil fast and furious. And the MXT is a perfect competition machine when it comes down to it. It's fast! When I do the seeded hunts, I always use my stock coil. Most hunt rules state that's the coil one must use, or compatible. The hunts are short and usually have resting breaks in between. :wacko:

Rob, you've got the world at your fingertips. Have you gone to the different forums on here and asked if there is anyone down in TX to hunt with? Surely there's got to be someone down there to show you around and possibly some old sights. HH and be careful shoveling that snow. Nancy
 
Club hunts are allot of fun. The reason you see everyone moving so fast is because they are more competition then hunt....:twodetecting:...:thumbup:
 
I think I am with you Rob. When I hunt alone there is no pressure, its just me and my detector and the desire to find a deep one that has been in the ground for 100 years. I don't put down club hunts as I know there are a lot of folk that like them because they are fun and they can get some nice prizes, but for me personally its like fishing in the hatchery. That's true Dennis. I too LOVE hunting for the old coins that have been lost years ago. I love the "surprise". For once a year, it's fun to participate in our PATH Club member's silver hunt. And yes, it's too fast paced for me, but I keep going till the end.....:stretcher: Glad it's only once a year. HH, Nancy
 
Hi Nancy, you'd think I'd get some feed back on Texas, but I haven't yet. I'm going to see if I can find some information myself in the mean time. I guess like Dennis I'll stick to the no pressure hunting. Rob
 
I would go to the FMDAC.org site and click on TX clubs and see if there are any in that area. Our club has hosted out of state hunters here in Illinois and had a blast showing them where to hunt. I would expect the same from other clubs Rob.

Rob, the Texas Council of Treasure Clubs has their annual convention the 20th thru the 22nd of March 2009 featuring the largest treasure show in America and an all silver hunt on Sunday. Now, THIS is a hunt. Lots and lots of silver, many detectors and a marvellous show to boot. It will be in Longview and if you're interested let me know and I'll send you a flyer. Frank L
