Coil choice

the stock coil masks so many targets ...even the 8x6 sef is better....and I don't like that little coil at all !
If you don't think so...test it against your tornado on targets. tornado vrs stock.
If I have to go small I have a solid coil the sunray x 2 that I would use in a woods or around bushes....but it has only been on my detector for testing.

What about the 8x6 is so negative?

I rarely , if ever, get a coin under 10 + inches...I need to get below the plow line in fields and the parks around here have been detected a lot. The gravy is gone.
I kept an x 2 and it seems to work well for tight spots. Therefore I do not need the 6 x 8 coil...just my opinion...lots of people love it...I just don't have a use for it.

I'm just the opposite in "most" coins found being beyond 10 inches deep. I don't hunt plowed fields though. All of my machines are paired with the 8x6 Detech coil, and I find that ergonomics footprint, still finds me a 9-10" coin, reliably. I never really figured that agri fields for having much gravy as you put it. I did my share of plowing fields during my life though. Happy hunting!

I’m not a “small coil guy” either just because of where I hunt. I have owned the X-5 and it is fantastic. I also had the Excelerator 5” coil at one time and THAT thing was an ANIMAL! Fell apart though...previous owner abused it badly. I can ABSOLUTELY recommend the X-5 if you need to get in those tight spots, Sunray stuff IMO is top notch.
