Coil depth question

Is it really true that the 10 DD coils gets more depth than the 6x10 DD in the same soil. Both have about a 10 inch lonng footprint. It is my understanding that all DD coils send a signal similar to blade going the length of the coil straight down. Since both coils a about 10 inches long, why the difference in depth??

(In general)..........You should get more depth with the 10" round coil because you have much more surface area. (Larger footprint) A lot depends on your ground (mineralization) and the test area is free of trash. In VERY mineralized ground, the 6X10 may come close to depth because of the smaller footprint, you will have better ground rejection. So many variables, you will just have to test them both and see what works best for you in your ground.
