Coil ears

If you look at your coil ears and they are bending in.
Or if you loosen the nut so it is LOOSE and you can wiggle the coil you may think about doing this.
Take a common one gallon plastic milk Jug and make spacer the size as the rubber washers in the arm head ( they can pop out.
Now place the spacers behind each washer and lightly coat them with either dialectic grease or vaseline (easier to get shaft between the ears.
My side play went away and the coil dose not have to be tightened so tight.h

Don't keep the nut very tight as I like it to be quite loose as I do a lot of detecting on rocks and it will move when I put it down for the 30 time on the day. Tried an iron infected site yesterday as I was packing up, using the slowest scan ever I was finding coins and fishing leads next to the masses of iron.

I also have the 3D stiffeners but my ears were bending in a little when lightly snugging the bolt up and has the coil wobble when the bolt was totally loose so that is why I added the spacers I described above.
I was worried about with the ears bending they could very well break. Now they barely bend.
