coil info?????????

Ok I have a let"s say 10 "coil concentric ...and a 10" dd coil...Now I now the concentric does a cone...and the dd does a blade....which one would go deeper...seems to me the concentric?...does the dd blade, go as deep as the cone?..If the blade goes deeper or the same ..what is the use in having a concentric?????????????

HI Mascard,
There is a BIG difference namely that the concentric only is deep at the point of the cone. So for example if you use an 10 inch concentric coil then at about 8 inches down you are getting about 1-2 inches of coverage. so to find the deepies you would have to pretend you are hunting with a 2 in coil and sweep like a 2 inch coil even though it is 10 on top of the ground...that would take a long long time right? The double D 10 inch coild makes a windshield wiper type detection area and 8 inches down, covering about 7 inches in length. You can now cover deeper areas with less sweeps. In fact you will want to sweep the concentric coil with overlaps so you don't miss much so its like a one inch coil. The D D coil also gives off less falsing and handles iron and black sand very well. As for the deepest coil ever I do not know which one to tell you but I can say this...My SEF DD is Killin it!

Good luck

You have to look at the level of mineralization of the ground you're detecting.....that is the key factor. Secondly, would be the amount of trash targets masking good targets.

In very low mineralized ground, the concentric coil would win on a depth test....In medium to highly mineralized ground, the Double D coil would be much more stable and give you better results. The DD coil is also the better coil at being able to separate good targets amongst many trash targets.
