Coil question is the SN "V" and "SS" the same?

I just read this and I want to verify it

" Coil has SS markings on ear and I'm pretty sure it is v-nulled for the V3i. I was told by White's that the SS was the same as a V marking on the ear and this was used early in the prodution of v-nulled coils."

Can anyone verify if this is true?

I can't verify it but if White's says it is so, I would believe them. If you are talking about the D2 coil it would be true because the D2 was made with the V3 in mind.

Larry,

Thanks for the response. I haven't talked to White's, this is posted elsewhere by someone else, not by White's.

Thanks,
Ron

Test it, it is or it isn't. If it passes the test you have your answer, or call Whites. You made it sound like you had talked to Whites, hence Larry's answer. Rob

No I haven't talked to White's. My post reads I just read this.. and quoted what someone else has said. I just wanted to verify if someone knew for sure.

We had an machine operator error here at the factory. Several hundred V3 tuned loops were stamped "SS" before it was noticed. So yes "SS" is V3 tuned. "SS" was not used on any other search coil.

Howard,

I assume you work for White's? Is there any official statements from White's on this that you know of? I got one response back for a White,s distributor:

Ron,

Only coils with a V before the # are V nulled coils.

I sure would like to get something solid as to whether it is accurate or not. The factory never responded back to my inquiry

Steve,

This is another reply from the factory from Todd Marshall
Confused? I am?

"Thank you for e-mailing us at Whites Electronics

The SS was on the early non v-rated 12 " spider coils. The V for v-rated was stamped on the coils from the begining when they started tuning the coils for the Spectra.

Sincerely

Todd"

Both statements are probably true. I think all D2's are V rated while the Super 12's were not. Which coil are you asking about and do you have one to test?
