Coil question

Johnny

New member
I have a Ex 2 and what is the best small coil for depth and trash , like the 5x10 or the x-5 or what? Thanks

Besides the stock, I use and like the sunray X-5 stealth. The stock and X-5 are the only coils I have for my EX-II and cannot comment on other coils. I have no regrets on the X-5 in trash areas.

I have the joey coil and I love it,deepth is good and it is good on dimes.I never used any of the other coils.

I agree. If you only have the stock large coil forget about buying a 5 or 8 inch coil. This new coil would be the way to go. It's great for those trashy areas and gets good depth. After getting the Sunray X-1 probe, I would say this would be the next best accessory you could buy for your Explorer or Quattro.

I had decided to get this coil since before I got my SE...It is now on its way, I ordered it yesterday...I used to have a little 4x6 "shooter" coil on my MXT & it was absolutely my favorite. I can't help but think that I'm gonna be likeing this one even more... TT

Sunray X-8 and X-5 are real nice coils. I use these two coils 90% of the time. I tried my hunting partner's Joey coil and was pretty impressed as well.

Johnny, I'm using the 5" Excelerator coil & man, I don't want to take it off. I've been finding some great stuff with that coil. But, I've also heard great things about the new 4 1/2" x 7" coil. I also have the 8" excel coil & have used it a little but I keep going back to the 5.

Thanks Tomtowns, I know where to get them, I've had my eye on them for awhile now. I was hoping to find the post from Mike (Virginia Beach) that (Posted some very good information on this one) According to
Steve(DE). Do you or anyone else know where that particular post is, the date of it. or is it in this forum, or was it ever in this forum, was it in another forum? I'd very much like to read it. Thanks again PP

Thanks Steve...here's my original post and there were a few others.

Anybody can find them like I did...use the "Search" button at top and do a Search By Author" and select "Last 90 days" and you get 'em all.

Thanks Mike! It was a good post. I've been reading a lotta good stuff on that coil. I went ahead and ordered it tonight. Thanks for letting me know where to find the post. PP

If anyone is interested, I bought it from The Kellyco 2007 catalog made of news paper, page 38, that was sent out late last year. It has a white haired man on the front, detecting with a Cobra Beach Magnet. (He don't look like he's finding anything;)) The price in there is 149.95 Plus 9.95 S&H.
Kellyco normally sells them for 195.00 or 159.00 with the purchase of a metal detector. Pretty good deal:yo: Good Hunting PP
