coinmaster 6/db help

hello everyone. I recently was given a whites coinmaster 6/db in what appears to be mint condition.
metal detector
headphones
carry case.
owner's manual.
the only thing i might not have it the "mineral rock" / ground sample used to calibrate ground balance (i think).
can a get a fact Simerly? do i really need it?
i would really like to use this detector. if possible.
so, any feedback and tips any of you could throw my way would be much appreciated.
is this even a practical idea to use this detector?

Excellent target id.Remember that it will id targets in all modes.Start with lower sensitivity while learning.

Practical to have, sure, just not very practical to metal detect with, I use mine to hunt in an "antique" category for club hunts. That's a lot of fun to me. After all, the machine is over 50 years old and for most coins, a couple of inches deep is about it. A far cry to the 8 to 10 inches modern equipment gets, in my ground anyway. It sounds like you have a nice collector's machine though. The biggest problem with using old detectors are the capacitors tend to dry out and values change, detuning the circuits for optimal operation.
