Thanks Barry for making this opportunity available. I look forward to meeting you on the kickoff weekend. Just out of curiosity where is the first hunt taking place?

Southampton, NY area.
One property is right on the main road, Rt 25 (montauk hwy) and the other is off Scuttle Hole Road in Watermill. There is a third smaller parcel more east in Sagaponic, also on Rt 25.
Both parcels can accommodate 15-20 persons without stepping on each other. The third probably no more than 5-7 persons.
All areas were settled 1650's.
Both large properties were pre-checked for their potential by me personally on just a sliver of the total amount of the property - as they were fully planted. I did not check the smaller property yet although that "area" has produced great items for me last fall.
Although I cannot guarantee what will be found - I can assure you that I found a few good items when I hit the spots 3 weeks ago:

King George large copper - I have never missed finding a large copper on each and every site that I've been detecting on out there.
1909 Barber quarter (my first Barber)
1907 IH penny
Interesting eagle head bronze piece (posted on this forum) believed to be a part of a flint lock pistol, dagger or sword - my best non coin find to date in that area.
And the misc. musket ball, square nail, button, buckle, etc. for a total of about 10 hours hunting - including 5 hours with one of the guys helping me run the program.

I know there are reales or GW buttons out there waiting to be found...

thanks for the interest - we've already started receiving payments for this fall - Barry

I saw where the money paid in goes to the appropriate Historical Group. Are the items found kept by the detectorists or turned in to the Historical Groups. I would assume that the detectorist gets to keep whatever they find, but didn't see that for sure. It sounds like it could be a very nice hunt if the circumstances are all ok. Thanks for the info.

Yes........"FINDERS KEEPERS"..........for everything found.........

Except for American Indian items - they respectfully request that those items get turned in as they have a great relationship with the local Shinnecock tribe.

Regardless - there won't be a cop there walking alongside you as you detect...
