Compared E-Trac vs SE...then Pro coil vs 10 x 12 SEF coil. Hmmmmm:surprised:

Jim...true most of my parks are devoid of signals at less than 8",,,but the signals that are left are usually left for one of 3 reasons...OR all 3:clapping:
1) the coin is very deep or on edge...2) the coin is mixed in with crap...3) the coin is in iron...or again all 3:biggrin:

I do have some sites that have very trashy...and at all different soil levels. I usually take my small coils to these few sites when field testing. I have also hit some of them with both the pro coil and the 10 x 12 SEF coil.

My opinion is the same...I always do better with the 10 x 12 SEF than with the pro coil. For me it separates just as good and probably better than the pro coil...but the key for me is not separation believe it or not...because both coils separate incredibly. The key is the end result sound that my ears hear once the machine/coil processes it and sends it through the Sunray headphonhes.

I personally get a lot more "diggable" signals with the SEF coil and that's as honest as I can be.

I don't know the answer my friend. I "ain't" that smart:bouncy:. I just like to find stuff:cool:

I have seen that hashed around some though and I bet you might have a valid point.

I am not into the tec stuff and I honestly feel many hunters spend too much time trying to analyze things instead of experimenting in the field where it counts.

. Heck I think you and I are a lot alike...I just wanna' hunt and see if I can't scare up another deepie or 2.:super:

Exactly right as I my passion also is finding old coins and when I get a combination that produces for me at my sites I stick with it till it fails and then I do more experimenting. So many variables involved that we all are better off individually starting with the basics and then fine tuning for our personal area and use to attain desirable results,Ray.
PS I have very little interest in the tech side of detecting as well but a huge interest in results

Thanks Bryce for the information on your test results. I have my 10 x 12 on my Explorer ll. I have had some pretty good results with it on the Explorer. I just bought the etrac and haven't tried the 10x 12 on it yet. After hearing your results I'll definitely make the swap.
Congratulations on all your great finds lately. Especially with the tough cold weather to hunt in.
Thanks for keeping this forum so rich in information. I just recently read Andy's book which is fantastic. I really felt like I was reading it the second time. Because of all the valuable information that You and all the Others share on this site. I know I wouldn't have a fraction of the success I've had if this Info. was not shared.
Thanks Again

Thanks for the side by side SF..... I did buy my 6x8 SEF because of your great comparisons and love it... Please keep up he great work you do so I don't have to do it..... Hope you and Swampthing get out again soon.... Like your posts....

I truly appreciate your responses...and your kind words.

If I've helped you fellers' in any way...you're more than welcome:thumbup:

That was a great comparsion, Bryce, no one can dispute you on that, looks like the SEF is the way to go,
but the weight might be a little harder on the older guy, like myself, what do you think, Or would it be worth
the hurt, to make a switch,

yours could obviously vary in your soil and sites. I will honestly tell you though...the weight difference is quite noticeable to me.

If the pro coil is working well for you...I'd leave it on. I do personally prefer the SEF coil...bu tthe pro coil is a great coil too and has found me a lot of stuff.

Take care buddy.
