:confused:e-trac curve:shrug:

I don't think the learning curve on the E-Trac ever flattens out.

While I agree with treasure sstate about always learning your E trac I still think and tell folks that It is not that hard to learn to begin with. Some have difficulty re teaching there minds from what they are used to and maybe that is harder the older you get, but the E trac can be automatic and if you begin by going to areas that are not on your SUPER DEEP SUPER HARD list then just focus on solid numbers and grow with the experiance. Human beings...we just have to do it enough to be good at it, there is no majic...unless its sex.

I loved my Explorers but after getting the E-Trac when first released I have never had the slightest desire to use an explorer again. As mentioned some of those who were long time Explorer user had the hardest time with the E-Trac because they wanted to force it to be an Explorer III.It is a new and advanced design compared to the Explorers and is much more user friendly for the first time Minelab experience .

When I first recieved my E-Trac I was lost with all the tecky stuff. I got Andy's book and read and reread it. Also the owners manual. A friend of mine that's been detecting for probably 40 yrs. said lets go to a spot that I know you'll find coins. So we went. Then went again, then again. We found lots of coins. All modern but coins, a few wheaties, no silver tho.
some of these coins were 5-6 inches deep. By doing this I got pretty good with the sounds and numbers on my E-Trac. This really helped with my learning curve. I also got better at finding rings, etc. This is just a suggestion to try because it did help me. Happy detecting.

As far as I'm concerned, it has proven to me that it is. I had an Explorer SE for almost 4 years before trading it for my E-trac. I have found more older coins in one year with my E-trac than I found in the 4 years with my SE. I even bought the ProCoil for it.

I think the hardest thing I had to learn was to slow down. My old Garrett was a fast swing or you missed stuff. So after 41 years of swinging fast it was hard to learn to slow down. Still find myself going to fast at times.

I really think that the Etrac is only as involved to operate as you choose to make it. I had no problems going from my Explorers (had them all) to my Etrac. If you were to get your Etrac and put it in the stock Coin Pattern and Auto Sensitivity +3 and hunt that way for good you would be doing nothing wrong at all and find everything most people want to find. Then again you could mess with all the variables it up to you...That's the point. Only as much to learn as you want.

never had a learning curve with my etrac, I found silver and wheats on day one and it just gets better, I never had any trouble it was so simple to use

I tell you what...if I hadn't of figured out at least the nickel signals, I'd of been ready to put the coil to my head and pull the trigger..lol.:rage: Trying to figure out the readings I'm getting, they seem pretty jumpy. Maybe one day soon I'll find a silver. I was kind of hoping there was a silver magnet on this thing...lol.

Yes, but keep in mind that there's another element to "learning curve" that is often overlooked and that is site selection. Do some good research and find a site that hasn't been hammered to death and you'll learn much faster and easier.

The Etrac is my first Minelab. I have not found it too hard to slow down due to the increased weight! I also keep the rod short. For me it has been a matter of saving my energy so it's a win-win. I have owned a V3i in the past and have so far found the Etrac easier. That said I have not got out of the default coin mode until I get more comfortable with it. But it is so far a shorter curve than the V3i. I'm the type of person that wants a machine that produces results. That is what it does quite well so far. I used it for a week then ordered the Sabisch book. The book then re-enforced my short experience with it. The more time I spend with it the higher my confidence in it's abilities.
