Cost to replace coil battery on a 2018 Deus 9" coil

Hi Folks,
Been reading the forums on Finds for many years, but seldom post.

I have been away from metal detector for the past 7 years, finally retired and I am going to start swinging the coil over the soil again.

I have a question for the Deus group. I am looking at buying a used 2018 Deus, that is in excellent condition, but doing research on the net, looks like the battery in the coil has about a 5 year life span, so my question is what does the Deus Service Center charge to replace the battery.

I tried calling Deus in the US, but all I got was a voice message stating that they are no longer accepting phone calls and all correspondence must be by email. Doesn't give me a very good feeling about their customer service, considering they one of most expensive metal detectors on the market.

Can someone give me a ball park figure, should a 9" coil require a new battery

Been researching the whole battery thing myself from what i gathered the manual says the batteries are supposed to last at least 5 years and possibly up to 10. Of course like all batteries in electronics like cell phones etc it’s dependent on use. The more cycles it was charged along with temperature it was stored and used in makes all the difference how long they last.
If the manufacturer says 5-10 years i would bank on the lower end of 5 years when you should really consider having to replace it. If you knew the history of use it would help.
Just my opinion i would expect to replace it soon instead of another 5 years. Should be around $50 plus shipping.
I heard you can buy the battery for about $25 and do it yourself although I wouldn’t recommend it as the chance of ruining the coil to save $50 isn’t worth it but thats your call.
If money is no object you can just buy a brand new coil for $299 and be done with it for 5-10 more years.

DigDog,

$50 + shipping sounds like a fair price to me, makes looking at a clean used Deus more appealing, especially with inflation eating away at my retirement.

My iPhone 6 was purchased in 2014. I replaced the battery once and the replacement is showing 100% capacity right now. I haven't heard of any reports of battery replacement in the Simplex, Equinox, or the first Deus. I have lithium rechargeable batteries that are over 10 years old and are still producing.

Picketwire, got to love the new batteries these days, I don't miss the old days of dead batteries or batteries not holding a very long charge.

I had the batteries in my Deus 1 replace late 2020, all three batteries cost me about $75 (I think). Sent the whole thing to Detector Electronics (1-508-460-6244). This was after using the Deus 1 for 3 years. I spend a lot of time detecting!

Thanks for the info, I bought a like new Deus 1, from a forum member, amazing how long a charge on the XP batteries last, plus I am using the MI-6 pinpointer that last about 80 hours, I am very happy with this set up

Here’s a video how to

They can do 10 to 15 years commmonly
Seems a bit of a stretch for lithium polymer batteries as they don’t typically last as long as lithium ion.
XP probably chooses polymer because they are lighter, smaller and can be shaped easier as to fit in the coils, headsets, etc. most other manufacturers use lithium ion in the control box.
Be interesting to hear from long term deus users how long the batteries have lasted.

I believe I purchased my Deus in 2014. My batteries lasted to 2020.
They still worked well enough for a short 2-4hr hunt, but the battery was at 1 bar by the time I was done.
Normally the battery's would show 3 bars after 2-3 hr. hunt. I decided to change them fall of 2020.
Now I own the Deus 2 while the D1 with new batteries sits in the closet.
