Couldn't wait for the snow to melt

It has been over a week since I had a chance to go metal detecting. I had a big weekend of detecting planned, but we got 5 inches of snow early Saturday morning. It warmed up a little today, but not enough to melt the all the snow. I couldn't wait, so I went to one of the local parks (that has been hunted to death) just to get that swinging feeling again. After three hours, I had a 1896 Barber dime, 1954 rosey, 1944 wheatie, and $1.05 in clad coins. It wasn't a bad day after all.

Great job finding the coins in the snow !
I've been hunting a few times a week all this winter - swinging in any more than 3" or 4" gets tough - powder snow is OK - but the wet snow really sticks to your coil !

Nice Finds! Congratulations!

Nice finds! Wanted to go today but snow warning tonight and both kids have the flu.

You should be geating some really good depth with all this moisture. Hunted a small park a few years back right after the snows melted off and picked up some really deep Barbers in about a hour as it was so cold that's all the longer our fingers could take the cold.

We haven't seen the ground in almost a month. The snow and ice storm we got this past week sealed our fate for a while to come.

Weather man is talking a warm up this coming week end into the low 40's and sun shine, but what will probably help us most is a forecast for rain and upper 30's latter in the week. Rain will get rid of snow and ice faster then just plain sunshine.

We haven't seen this kind of snow since the early to mid 80's when we had three blizzards three years in a row on Jan.6Th each year. In 1982 we had a period when it did not get above -0 temps day and night for two solid weeks. Had water lines freezing in the ground and water pipes freezing and busting in the inside walls in our home. I am in no hurry to see any more like that.
