Country of Manufacture?

I apologize if this has been posted before - I was unable to find it. How can I tell where my eTrac was manufactured?

The box my E Trac came in has a sticker on it that says it was built in Ireland.

Thanks - checked my box - Malaysia. Do I recall reading somewhere that there were issues with Malaysian assembled eTracs?

News to me... interesting. Has anyone ran an Ireland made and a Malaysia made Etrac side by side and noticed any differences, etc?

Heh, for some strange reason, after swinging my Irish E-Trac all day, I have a strong urge to down a few pints of Guinness. I'm afraid to think what would happen if my E-Trac was Malaysian.

HAHA! Perhaps Des Dunne himself, personally touched and blessed with Irish luck all the ones made in Ireland  Now I just need a little Leprechaun to pop out and tell me where the pot o gold is eh!

But seriously, as long as they all have the same guts and same firmware, they should be pretty much the same right? Oooohh, someone with both could tear them open and film it for us on U tube!

In past posts there was some discussion about the the Ireland detectors assembled at the "mine sweeping" company had some better quality than the Malaysia assemble to sell plant. You would be hard pressed to prove this but the conspiracy still pervades the forums. You can search back and read about the fears of the "Malaysian made owners" and the "comforted and reasured" Ireland owners if you want some entertainment.
I say just get out there and dig some fun stuff with your machine.

No, in the past there was a lot of fear that the incoming Malaysian detectors would have problems. It's fairly common for plant moves and new hires to cause QC issues. However, there have been a lot of the new plant E-Tracs imported since then and I haven't heard of any issues from them so far.

From everything I've read so far - theres been no difference in performance or reliabilty from the older machines that were assembled in Ireland - and the newer machines that are being assembled in Malaysia.
I would think that Minelab understands this change in location for assembly would be of concern to some of their customers - and are really paying close attention to quality control.

My Malaysian Made was sent back in for Warranty repairs...New PCB and Touchpad/screen was installed..
