CTX 3030 Sensitivity panel

I am currently learning the CTX using the training modules in the CTX handbook by Andy Sabisch (page 103). It has me using sensitivity in auto plus 3. If the sensitivity panel right hand number is running 16 and auto has the left hand number around 22-24, should the sensitivity be manually changed to read just slightly above (16) the recommended optimum sensitivity setting?

Jimi...No,leave it be. The setting numbers you see are calculated a different way,it’s not just a straight “add 3” to the suggested number. Too long to explain now,but leave it. As long as you are just learning it and will be running in AUTO Sensitivity, don’t worry about the HOW,WHAT,WHY right now. You’ll want to worry about that LATER when you have a better feel for the operation of the machine.

There are a couple of things there...

If you're learning it, depending on your experience level with FBS detectors, I'd keep it at auto+3 for awhile because auto runs quieter with less falsing than manual does.

Also, manual levels are deeper-reading and more sensitive than the equivalent auto level. For example, manual 18 will read deeper than an auto+3 reading 18.
