CTX gets my first complete CS Button

Folks,

Brought the CTX to an organized dig in northern VA at an Elkwood horse farm. Unfortunately our hunt was cut short when one of my digging partners was informed of an emergency back home but the machine was great and found some fun stuff. I got three keepers, a decent flat button with a complete shank, the back and retaining ring from a Scovill manufactured kepi sized button (found in the same hole) and ... da, ta, da, da!!! ... A real nice Virginia Staff Officer's coat button!!!

The VA looks like Tice #VA255A4, with an "* Extra * Quality" backmark, sharp crisp lines on the field, clear lettering ("VIRGINIA" and "SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS") and some gold left between the lines and adjacent to the lettering around the rim of the dome. It was down about eight inches and rang out nice and cleanly.

My first complete CS button and a VA staff button at that! WooHoo!!!!

That is a fine find. I've always liked buttons and that's a dandy

Great finds...
Congrats...
What mode were you running...
Thanks..

Thanks guys.

Sonnydigs,

Relic mode with high trash. Generally running auto +3 unless that produced a sensitivity level below 20. Mineral content of soil ran from medium to fairly high.

Congrats on making the recoveries. Too bad your hunt was cut short, but nice to see the CTX 3030 was able to perform in the Northern VA soil. HH Randy
