CTX-single frequency update

New member
Just reading about the 'Nox-

"The EQUINOX 600 offers a choice of 3 single frequencies and the EQUINOX 800 offers the choice of 5 single frequencies. Both models cover a much broader range of targets when operating in Multi than any one single frequency can, however, if excessive ground noise is present in a particular detecting location, switching into a single frequency can help to eliminate this."

If this is true, I would like the option to pick a single freq on my CTX. It would be simple for them to make it happen with a firmware update and just add a menu option.

Thoughts? If it is truly beneficial then lets start calling them up and being squeaky wheels. :)

we don't know if its possible or not. The coil wiring could be different to deal with single or multi freqs and still stay balanced. If it was possible to do this with the CTX coil, they would probably be using them instead of new ones.

Your CTX is fundamentally a TIME-DOMAIN beast.

Naive and wishful thinking......matt

Id like that as well...... but im not paying $2400... or even $1800 for another CTX just with that option. It may enlighten us as to which freqs are really being combined into the multi frreq that works so well.

Why would you need to buy a new one? The whole point of a USB plug is to allow updates...that they never do.

This would be a perfect use of that capability with very little tweaking of the software needed by Minelab.

The new Equinox is upgradeable. That's the new rave going round. Sounds like the 2012 CTX spill all over again to me. Fool me once, fool me twice. Waiting on some real test results from real pirates out in the water. I have cancelled my preorder. No real salt water or even damp sand video's got me thinking. Good luck to everybody!!!

I'm guessing that he's sold his CTX and doesn't currently own one.
