CTX Software Upgrade

Any news on Software upgrades.
Nice the detector has the ability to get software ugrades.
We have had one upgrade I think.
Would be nice if they are working on some more tweaks.
Not sure if the can tweak it to do any better.

It's just about two years, two months since the last update on Halloween 2012. Many many suggestions have been made on the megathread (which I can't find now), and it looks like we will never get them.. ( I am hoping since I say never it will happen soon )

Yeah, seems like there is a bug in the software update process, it's stopping Minelab releasing an update as they can't figure out what the problem is. Oh, wait, they are not working on an update ! More fool me, you, him and her for buying this over hyped upgradable detector !

I think this is the thread.. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?86,1887740

The ability to get free upgrades sounded a little too good to be true. Lord know enough folks on this site have provided some great ideas. Heck, I'd be happy with a larger clock that I could actually see. Maybe on the next "future of discovery" model.....

Not sure they ever said that it would be free.

Would be nice.

Probably wishful thinking on my part.

I still like the idea of handing out the code and letting experienced users come up with tweaks at their own risk. Of course, having Minelab release it and support it would be best, but this would be better than nothing.

Someone, maybe you, had mentioned that a while back. Sounds like a neat idea. Never happen though since the secrets about what is behind the scenes that makes the CTX tick would be available to all

You snooze you lose.

Minelab, right now, may be doing nothing to bring new models on the market or upgrade their existing machines. But, you gotta believe their competition isn't just sitting there doing nothing. Minelab may be number one in the industry now. But, in two or three years, they may be number two or number three.

You snooze you lose.

The last update made it nice and solid. Not sure what else could be added software wise.

Bart - Are you referring to the Seawater update?

Yes Sir!

Well besides more bins, be nice if old bent square nails or rusty bolts didn't sound off like silver! Seems to me there are plenty of tweaks that could be done, plenty were sure pointed out! It would be nice to know Minelab hasn't just gave up on even bothering to try to come up with some settings adjustments, the least they could have done, since upgradeability was being touted as a benefit to buying such an expensive detector, is to come up with something every 6 months or at least let us know whats in the pipe for us. Guess they're hoping we'll all forget and it will die on the vine.

I got one of the first ones, was worthless on salt. Patch fixed that but they are talking about updates to give new features and listen to paying customers. Is it too much to ask to make a great detector better?

I think we are talking to deaf ears:shrug:.
