DD COILS ON THE WAY

Hi Frank,
Appearances are deceptive. What looks like a gap, is insulating tape to prevent contact between the two shields. The actual gap is no more than 1/4in. It could be even less, say 1/16in, but there is always a danger of the two ends touching as the coil position is adjusted for zero balance. There are no performance advantages to ultra small gaps. The two shields are not electrically joined until the control box.
More DD's are on the way to Bill Crabtree, so hopefully, demand can be met.
Eric.

Eric,
Thanks,You might have already answered this
question. Each coil might have 24 turns or more of
plastic coated wire with a braided shielded, the
length of wire in each coil.
Does each turn of braid shield have a gap.
Frank.

Hi Frank,
I do not use a braid shield. It is continuous all the way round the coil with no gaps, other than the one gap which stops it looking like a shorted turn.
Eric.

HI,
I had the same PB but i glue some wood part inside the PVC pipe and now it ligth and rigid.
regards
PhilippeM

Hi Chris,
I use too PVC tube but for hot water: less thin then the cold water, in Diam 20mm and 12mm.
To have it more rigid but light i just glue inside a piece of wood with expoxy glue.
With this it is very rigid and light.
Regards
PhilippeM
