deep silver with GTI 2500

That's a great point UW. It's been rolling around in my head since I started following this thread that maybe the 2500 is capable of more than even the folks who engineered it are aware of.

I'm trying to keep an open mind but I'm still not sure that I'd want to dig 24 inches for a chance at a silver coin.

i"v seen this style of hunting used buy other hunters with different detectors over the years, max out the senc run in all metal & dig the tinniest signals i use it my self in the " right " areas BUT this type of hunting is all but useless in most parks/ old home-building sites/ or areas with high iron/junk concentration as your good stuff to junk ratio will be way down because it takes 10 times as long to dig each target.
the " right " areas are old places with no modern junk & very little deep iron eg battle sites, very old fair sites,.
as for 24 inch that's a dam long way down & i"v never dug a coin that deep & i"v also never dug a coke can that's deep ether & i"v dug a lot of deep coke cans  if your getting coins that deep i give a big  to ya.

Anyone ever listen to Art Bell on the radio?
I am impressed with the stories his guests tell every night he is on the air.
Unfortunately, sincerity and belief do not make fact.
No matter how much we WANT to believe that a GTI-2500 can detect a single coin 30" deep in the ground ... it aint gonna happen.

If only one of the Garrett engineers would have said "that might be possible",
or if just one other GTI-2500 user would step forward and say "my 2500 also will detect and ID coins buried 30 inches deep in the ground",
Then I might give this story a bit of credibility.
Until then I must stick to what I have experienced in my many years using a metal detector.
Including the GTI-2500.
This has all the markings of a HOAX or a tall tale.
Much like the claims of the LRD's that people try to sell for thousands of dollars claiming that they will find gold miles away,
This claim also is a bit too far fetched to be taken as fact.

I have to agree with you LazyA.
I would not like to dig that far either unless I was sure of the area I
was detecting. There are some ghost town areas where I would dig deep however.
Your right about the technique being useless in parks or even in soccer fields.
All the deeper targets I've dug in those places almost always turn out to be junk.

Uncle Willy is a guru of this forum...

His posts carry a lot of weight.

Still waiting to hear some other 2500 users verify the 30" technique.

I know there's a lot of 2500 users here on this forum.

C'mon, let's here from some more grizzled vets!
