Delta 4000- People say blah its a bounty hunter...?

I have have my Delta for about 3-4 weeks now, its been good to me, learning its traits and strong points. I hear a ton of talk about them here and their , they are like a bounty hunter? Kind of in a negative way. Is that really even a bad thing?

I am finding that I must have the vdi numbers, and I am not sure how you would hunt with out them , once you have them?

Please help me understand why people hate on this brand, when I compare it to an Ace 250, I would take this 5 times again? I had one and loved it. But the Delta is better imho.

Well.........my Omega and T2 have been called Bounty Hunters..........lol.............they kick some serious tail. I was a dedicated White's guy for 20+ years.....I would take it as a compliment......although those deriding the new Teknetics units probably never used them....or learned to properly use them.

Yea, and don't forget Fisher, their Bounty Hunters as well. Anything made by First Texas in well I guess a Bounty Hunter. Truth is all the Tek line are great and better on all the way up to the T2 Ltd and the Fisher Ltd. Nothing wrong with First Texas a bit. But you'll aways find someone who puts them down so don't let that bother you, if you have a Tek you have a great machine for the buck. HH, Woodstock

I went out last week to an old ball field and this older guy with a B.H. tracker was there working the ball field.I watched him pluck coin after coin out of the ground.He said that machine is like 10 years old still works like new.

In order to help qualify my following statememnt, I have lotsa experience with just about everything out there now (except some of the Euro stuff) and I feel without a shadow of a doubt that the Delta is THE best detector performance value on the market, bar none.

The Delta is a great detector. So is the Ace 250. So is the Tesoro Compadre/Silver uMax.

I'll never understand the need to knock down another person's detector.

They are all quality manufacturers. They do not sell junk.

Whatever your first detector was when you stared detecting is probably the one your going to swear by.
It's the one you got used to...I started with the Ace 250; it took some getting used to other detectors.
You just have to get past your mental programming. When you do that you will be able to make a more
objective call on other detectors. My only objection to Bounty Hunter has always been that they look
like a pile of crap held together with glue and scotch tape. Other than that they seem to be good detectors.
Also they are a bit over priced for what you get. The Ace 250 could easily sell for $400 because of all the
modes and VCO pinpointing, but Garrett made a business decision to corner the market and made a good
well built detector for less money. His strategy worked. The Ace 250 is a great machine for $212.00 and it is
not a bad looking detector either. If you don't mind buying and over priced detector, the BH is just fine. Just
depends if it fits your needs.

i had a Bh505 that i regret trading to this day. the dang thing was a muffler on a stick and worked as said. no they will not tell a gold ring from a pulltab. most wont and the size and type ring can play tricks on all detectors. Monte says it all with the best discriminator is your own eyes. i have a friend with a vast array of units. owner of all and master of none! FoilFinder says one thing, beware the man with only one detector, for surely he knows how to use it. practice makes perfect. clean out the junk in a promising place, then get the goodies left. location is a key factor. i was surprised by the BH505 and kudos to DaveJ and crew. i will acquire another, the trade was for a classic old unit i just had to have, and was spur of the moment. BEING A TESORO FAN, I WOULD NOT HESTITATE TO OWN, AND PLAN ON DOING SO, A MODERN FIRST TEXAS PRODUCT, ESPECIALLY A BH MUFFLER ON A STICK 505, TRACKER IV, 101 0R 202. these machines are affordable and fun. I WANT A GREEK SERIES! THIS COMPANY ROCKS now make a dang salt unit PLEEEZE! for us budget guys!

I had a few BH units some are better than others.I had 3 models of the lonestar,Not great,target masking was real bad.I found the coils differed from each machine.Some coils are more sensative.
I changed the coil from my big bud 220-d to one of the lonestar coils it made it alot more sensative.I really liked the big bud,much better than the other BH units.I would by another one if I find one-mine broke(turner switch went)sold it for cheap to a forum member,who was suppose to fix it but he sold it on ebay!

I think the delta 4000 would be a far superior version of the big bud circuit,which I would suspect evolved into the landstar,time range ect.

I know that some of the BH machines i had could only reach depths of 6" with the stock coil,these modern machines should have at elast 8" and I would be happy with that.

Just wondering what type of depth you get on silver dimes with the Delta 4000? what about quarters.Im much more into old silver in parks than anything else!

Mental programming I didn't know that Dr. Phil was on here I have owned a few BHs and have friends that use nothing else. Like what was said earlier, beware the man who only owns/uses one MD. I had a Pioneer 505 some time back and had very good luck with it. I sold it to a good friend of mine and he still uses it today and let me tell you I have seen him go to parks that I thought were picked over and he still comes away with the good stuff.I don't agree that they are over priced. It all comes down to how well you learn your particular machine , even a Garrett ace 250. I have used an ace 250 and you get what you pay for.It doesn't have all the bells and whistles but does an adequate job. I have the Delta 4000 and it has to be the best bang for the buck in that price range, hands down. I love this machine and will love it even more when I master it. Great job Teknetics

Understand the Cibola is around 100.00 more in price range. I did this test today. So the comparison is not really equal, also Ace 250 is a great detector too which I had, and It results were similar to the Delta 4000. I would like to see the silver umax vs the Delta? That would be a better test.. same price range.

In the video below , we searched the same 1910 house for hours with Ace 250's and the Tek Delta 4000 , and in about 2-3 hours total time with the Cibola dug 2 sliver coins, One silver ring, a 1927 ford Model T key, and 5 more wheaties.

A lot of the hate comes from those with $2000 worth of Minelab or whatnot that NEVER even used a BH machine, but must poo poo on them because they MUST be junk if you can buy them at Wally World right???
I just laugh...I started out on BH machines, then moved to White's...I sometimes miss my Land Star and Legacy 3300...
Best detectors in their price range...

I have been digging for 35 years, and started with White's. I had been "biased"(not in a good way) about Bounty Hunters since owning a Big Bud back in the 80's. It was probably just a faulty machine. My wife recently picked-up a like-new Fast Tracker at a yard sale for 15.00. I couldn't wait to try it out to see. Great little machine! I would equate it in performance to a Tesoro Compadre. Of course, I also have a recent T2. In short, I like the performance of today's BH machines. I will never again "knock" them.
