Delta 4000 vs Omega 8000?

I am thinking of adding another detector for my nephew to use and to also just add to the collection. After looking over the two I really do not see a whole lot of major difference between the two. (Coil size, Headphone jack size, arm rest strap is optional, ground balancing).
My Question is this;
What is the major difference that I'm overlooking?
What make the Omega 8000 any better than the Delta 4000?
Price wise it makes no difference to me, I just need a little help.
Thanks to all and have a wonderful Holiday Season.

One major difference is approx. $320.00. The 4000 weighs 2.3 lbs. that is .6 lbs lighter than the 8000. The ground balance could be a big factor depending on the mineralization in your area. I do like ground grab feature on the 8000. I like the 4000 when comparing the two. I had a 4000, and it is a very good detector in that price range. If a fixed ground balance is OK in your area, I would get the 4000. You could upgrade later if you liked. I sold my 4000 in one day after advertising it, and regret it. Good luck.......................

That's it ?. i thought this thread would be screaming with opinions
I have the Delta and was also considering buying the Omega. I want the extra ground control feature even though i really don't know the delta isn't handling the ground until i try the Omega.

What about the Gama

Would someone like to ship me there Omega for a few days

I promise to send it back

Thanks Guys, I ordered the Delta 4000 and will give it a try, heck if it don't work out I can always sell it or trade it in on the Omega 8000.
I think it will be just fine (I hope) for a 13yr old to try.
All Iron, I felt the same way I thought there would be all kinds of opinions, oh well.

GBalancing makes a big difference ,specially when you buy a detector and find out it can't handle your ground.I found that out the hard way.I won't buy a detector without it IMHO.

David,

Even though you have already purchased the Delta 4000, ground mineralization varies with geography. Not to invade your privacy, but knowing the locale of where you live would be helpful to us as to whether or not you need a unit with manual ground balancing capability. The more specific you are, the better someone can help. There may be someone on this forum who lives in your area and can give advice. We don't need your home address.lol
Perhaps your state or city or country if outside the United States,
Good Luck
