I hear what you are saying Paul. I know not every machine can do it all, unfortunately.
As I said in another post...I'll have to try one out for myself, as we all have our own preferences. I have heard enough to be interested...and also heard enough bad things to be somewhat of a skeptic. I suppose the only real way to find out is to try one.
Wish I had a place I could rent one for a week....then I could try it out, and if I liked it...I'd buy one....as I do need and want a second machine.
My whole point of my original post I guess was the fact that on ALL of the T2 forums I have read, everyone seems to compare it to the explorer, and remark how the explorer is inferior to the T2. Just find it strange, as it doesn't seem to be compared with many other machines. Perhaps this in itself says alot about the Explorer however?

Me, I like a lot of diferent detectors for what they can do. Variety being the spice of life and all that stuff but each has to have an edge to come out in a certain circumstance. Just today I hunted and used the SE, the T2, and the C$ with the small coil. I DEFINITELY didn't feel like I'd brought the wrong gun for the hunt.
MUST BE FUN PAYIN FOR REPAIRS.
