Depth and VDI ? f75 ltd

Just curious,i only cw relic hunt and was wondering at what depth do most people stop "relying" on the vdi numbers? I run the f75 in all metal mode and 98 sens.

I dug a silver nickel at 12" and the ID was very accurate.

Depth and ID will vary in different ground conditions.... So will ground content of iron & Junk items etc play a part in ID.

Size of the object you detect will vary the depth and ID too.

Yeah, ground balance too, moisture, soil, sand, pebbles and all...If everything is set up properly for that specific location, It should be dead on for at least 7.
I've hit some pings in deep wet sand that turned out to be Q's...i dont think I'd a dug that deep in the dirt though..I dont set up right most of the time, and have noticed all sorts of TID numbers...its all about the set up balance to the conditions and location.
Mud

I agree with Mud; there are several factors that come into play with depth and id. Moisture and mineralization are the two main factors. I have been in moist ground out in the woods with 150 years of leaves and foliage and found .69 cal bullets at almost a foot with proper id. With dry and mineralized soil, the id can start to break up in as little as 3-4" around here (clay soil). In fact, there are some clay grounds around Murfreesboro, TN that you can lay a clad coin on the ground and a standard concentric coil would not get it. By the way, that was "brand X" I stopped using 'till the "F" series came out.

after 4" the ground was hard as a rock and I had to do the hammer and large screw driver thing. After several digs, I decided to wait until after a rain to hunt the site. I found some items, but I have to clean them before I can tell what they are, could be old coins or buttons.

I mostly use my F-75 for hunting CW relics. Usually in all metal and boost mode sensitivity as high as my ears can stand so I don't expect solid VDI numbers. If you are finding targets of the CW era I would suggest digging anything that sounds good or repeats itself. So many times nails and trash will try and mask a nice button or bullet. Depth can be anywhere so keepers may be peepers that are always deeper. HH :fisher::minelab::teknetics: :goodnight:
