Detunine my Garrett pro pointer .... cant get it.

OK so I forgot how I detune my Garrett pro pointer. I run the nickle over the shaft and hold it agianst the area by the button but I am not getting it to give me the extra inches...can someone give me a good description of what I am doing wrong? Please no videos just words or pics

I would so appreciate any response.

You turn on the Pro Pointer away from any metal, then slide a small piece of metal from the back until the Pointer barely sounds off. Pull the small piece of metal back about 1/2" and hold it there (Normally between the button and speaker) and you'll get the extra depth.

When you want to 'detune' a Garrett ProPointer you put metal at the end of the TIP of the ProPointer and then hit the START button
while the metal is still there. That 'detunes' it. If you want to 'detune' it one inch you place the metal one inch from the tip and
hit start. If you want to 'detune' it four inches, you place the metal four inches away and hit the start button. You can use a fence,
your metal detector, or your wedding band or your digger for something handy to 'detune'.

I have read tons of great things about the sunray and would probably get one BUUUtttt----I tore my rotator cuff while building a house some time ago (very painfull) everyone wanted me to get surgery and said my shoulder would be useless without it but I have managed to rebuild some muscles good enough to keep swinging with the same arm (sometimes i have to use the other) and I do alright after lots n lots of working on it. I do use a swingy that I fashioned for myself to take the wieght off on long hunts and am very greatfull to be able to get out as long and as much as I do without all that lpain. I dont even dare put anymore wieght on the detector so I got me a pistol probe been doin fine with her and she likes me back.

I have never understood why some people insist on adding more unnecessary weight to detectors - and that cord... very annoying in the woods. I started off with a sunray, and after a very tiring season, Iupgraded to the pro-pointer, and I have no problems finding my targets with it. I like being able to slide it in my pocket and remain cord-free.

On the other hand, I suppose if you have a lightweight detector, and you only hunt parks and other open areas, then it would be acceptable. This is not the case for me.

Thanks for tips folks, I "Rememberd" how to do it again thanks to you telling me how. I get close to 4 inches with that pointer when I do that and it POINTS just fine for me.
