Gary did seem to be disappointed and troubled to me. As I stated before , it seemed he was moving too fast. Coming from a large coil to a small one.
I wonder why they would post that video, it will define aptly turn folks off
This was an introductory video with a little information about the coil and a lot of suggestions about where to use it besides gold prospecting.
He said twice in the video that most of the video was about coil stability testing on three scenarios, wet ploughed fields, wet pasture and wet salt sand.
Since he was running a pre-release software version, he was only going to show the General program and to use it in default settings. He was wondering if its soil subtraction qualities would make the General program insensitive to smaller low conductor targets like coke. He was hitting plenty of coke as he stated in the video so not a problem.
He promised to make videos about the actual public release software, more about the coil's features and some of his future custom programs in the future.
So he was just showing how stable the coil was using the General program running 53 kHz max frequency at sensitivity 95 on some difficult ground conditions that would have needed a lower frequency in the past.
This was not meant to be a hunt video showing VDI's and targets.

The FCC has approved the coil, so the first batch should be arriving soon. I also found out that you can update the software and use it with other coils - so go for it

The deus 2 frequency goes to 45 ,,how much higher of a frequency are you guys thinking,and what are the benefits of running anything higher than 45 khz?
Good question Pete.
XP deliberately setup Deus 2 to be slightly insensitive to really small targets using the FMF modes. One of those FMF modes is a designated gold prospecting mode. So poor sensitivity to targets smaller than .3 grams and gold prospecting or micro jewelry huntingin mineralized ground/beach without simultaneous multi frequency is a bad combination. On Deus 1 and the ORX the gold prospecting sweet spot for me was around 60 kHz using the HF round coil. 45 kHz on the Deus 2 9” coil using FMF Goldfield is weak on .3 gram and smaller gold targets to say the least. XP improved it some with version 2.0 software but it still can’t compete with its own Deus 2 mono mode running 45 kHz selectable single frequency. The new HF2 coil, higher frequencies and negative silencer settings should really help sensitivity to very small targets using simultaneous multi frequency.

I am wondering if I should pass on this coil or not. I don’t want tiny bits but I want the separation. Sometimes with the 11 inch I have that issue and pass some iffy signals up.
For a gold prospector using a PI or VLF detector, a 0.5 gram target like an .177 air gun pellet would be an easily detectable target. Not tiny at all. Tiny for us is a sub 0.1 gram or smaller target like a #9 shotgun bird hunting pellet. Right now, a 0.5 gram nugget is worth $50, so definitely not tiny in size or value.
If you don’t want the tiny bits, just set the max frequency at 24 kHz or a bit lower.

I find very tiny targets already that are hard to find with my pin pointer!
Both my D2 and manticore.
I’ve had no problems finding small gold with my 9” and separation is excellent also

Like Gary Blackwell said in his first HF2 video, the HF2 coil is obviously a gold prospecting coil. Hopefully the HF2 coil is going to really bring Deus 2 up to the level of the Manticore as a gold prospecting detector.
Put your Manticore and Deus 2 in their SMF gold field modes and test the point of a standard Bic pen that has just a golden metal tip and a plastic housing with no other visible metal. Those titanium tips weigh roughly 0.08 grams. See which detector is more sensitive to that tiny titanium target. You may have to turn down the Manticore’s sensitivity to below 20 since its goldfield mode is super sensitive. Deus 2’s coils are most sensitive under the red F of FMF or nearby. May have to be outside away from bad EMI. Then compare Deus 2’s default FMF goldfield to the default Fast 40 program that may still be on your Deus 2 following a software download with the same Bic pen.
Many use higher frequencies as a form of speeding up recovery speed and improving separation since higher frequencies are much smaller than lower frequencies.
In a round about way, higher frequencies vs lower frequencies are a form of target size discrimination. That concept can also apply to partially masked targets and targets presenting a smaller profile on edge that are in the field of detection
