Diamond tester????

New member
Want to get a tester for diamonds and gem stones, any recommendations?

A diamond / Mossanite testers are common and a must over the diamond only tester. Be sure to get one that will tell the difference.
Diamond test by heat transfer and the Mossanite test by resistance, you need both tests.
Price: less than $20. I paid way more for just a diamond tester back some 20 years ago demand has brought the price way down for the same unit.
As for other stones...light refraction is the only true way to go. Much more costly and difficult to use plus the stone must be removed from the setting. Synthetic vs. natural are near impossible to separate at any reasonable cost that I have found with one exception...a gemologist. Most jewelers I have talked to will give only an educated guess and can often be wrong.

Might be a few things of interest here.
(I learned enough not to try grading one myself... )

If you are serious, Gemoro brand. Top of the line testers used by Jewelers, about $200. with rechargeable batteries. There is an AC charging dock available too. Besides your own finds there will always be someone you know who will ask if you can test thier finds. I have jeweler friend (40 yrs in business) who agrees it's the best.

This was a gift from my wife and she also got me the docking station (not necessary but so sweet). The message was clear, "find more bling w/ice!". It's a lot to live up to!!!.
