Did a 4 hr hunt up lake erie this morning to get the safari used to seeing sand......But I do have a serious question..

I'm noticing a distinct lag time when the pinpoint button is pushed for it to go into all metal mode....So. I guess the question is this, when you guys hit your PP button, does your detector react instantly to go to pinpoint, or does it take a moment???

Any thoughts.

Mark (ohio),
The pinpoint mode, in my Safari, has about 1-3 seconds delay depending what's in the ground. But,
I can live with that knowing the pin-point mode does an excellent job of targeting the metal object.
For me it seems when there is a lot of iron in the ground, there's a longer delay. That's just my opinion.

My safari also has a deley when I push pinpoint. It has done it ever since new.I posted this problem a while back.Sometimes it takes 2-3 sec to activate, and sometimes it seems to take 4-5 sec.But after it comes on it works fine.Guess thats just the way it is.

I always start the pinpoint procedure a few inches off to one side of where the target was hit. Since that takes just a bit to do, I have not noticed it on my Safari. Onus

Are you moving the coil a couple of inchs left or right of the target before pushing the pin-point button then sweep slowly across the target? Using this method I notice very little delay. The manual suggest NOT to press PP button when directly over target. Myself I usually wiggle slowly backwards until target sound is gone then slowly forward and when target comes back it is right in front of my coil this makes for a lot smaller plug. Hope this helps.
