Disc/User programs/run down for old coins in trash or clean ground

Excuse my typing. Have hand injury...

I'd like to hear info on things like audio. how high of variability, gain, smooth or what, etc. and how those change for deep coins/trash etc. What i'm looking for is somebody to run down all his settings for coins in trash, then all for deep coins, and explain why they are setting things that way. That would be a good starting point to venture out from for two newbie friends of mine to the Etrac, not detecting, who just bought Etracs. Not able to find that kind of info yet. Also, what disc pattern do most feel is best for every US coin including gold coins? Does one even exist for download? Is andy's program best? These guys are old coin hunters who need a run down on things for tras or deep situations when coin hunting as well as an "all US coins including gold" disc pattern. I have read Andy's book and the manual to help them but found it lacking in this kind of detail. Even the settings run down was not very informative in this way IMO.

Andy's coin program is very good. I also use a modified high trash pattern with settings. Outside of Andy's book. Look into Thebeepgoson.com He has a great program that explores patterns. Also a great tool is the ETrac emulator. Different ground in different states is going to handle differently. Setting the Threshold tone can change all the tones. Setting gain can make or break how well the ETrac IDs targets.

Setting up a high trash pattern, deep off, fast on, ground difficult "if auto sens is 20 or lower". The ETrac will recover faster after a target. Will detect multiple targets in the same hole. Eliminates a lot of masking. But doesn't ID as well. Doesn't get as deep in my ground. As----

A more open pattern such as Andy's coin pattern. Deep on, Ground difficult or neutral depending where auto sens is at. Fast off.

Patterns are a staring point. The settings is up to the individual and what they like and what works for there area. I tend to shift my settings with the patterns as i go. High trash pattern with more open settings. More open pattern with fast high trash settings. Once you get the combs the way you like you can save them into Modes.

Thanks for the info. I'm just trying to develop them a good old coin pattern and settings for heavy trash, then the same for low trash and deep. Any other info welcome. Will check out that site too.
