Discrimination - checked or unchecked

On my SE I have everything checked except crown caps & nails which I have X'd off.

From reading the manual that means I want the machine to look for the things I have checked and block out (discriminate) the things I have X'd off.

Now what is puzzling me is when we want AM mode we clear it so it accepts everything.

What would be the difference between clearing everything except X'ing crown caps & nails as opposed to the way I do it. Is it the same thing or is this way I just mentioned give you more "juice"?

when you accept something it just clears that area....when you disc. something it blackens it out to reject it.....so just make it easier and just x what you don't want to find.....not much lands in crown cap area but crown caps and not much lands in iron nail area.... but the rest is most likely relics or deep coins due to depth.........dig it all....if you hunt newer places and want to stop digging junk...make a custom pattern right there in the field....dig it all and then learn all junk and save it.....and reject all junk and it will save you time in the field....use small cursor to learn. get to know the Explorer and it will treat you well!
