Display Cover

Just unpacked my new E-trac, I ordered it with a display cover, It seems to fit poorly and causes a lot of glare on screen. What are others using to protect your investment and will the cover fit better with time? I am ready to start swinging this great new machine, just need snow to leave Michigan

I use one of my wife's I touch screen protectors and have to cut it to fit the screen not touch buttons and just wipe it off every night
I hate using those covers I agree the glare sux

My Minelab enviromental cover was so tight that I could not get it to stretch over the control box housing.

I eventually had to take the stitching out on the sides that holds the elastic band.

The other alternative is what detectorfreak said and get some iPod screen protector.

I had one that didn't fit well, now I have the Pro-Tector Cover, both hood and body cover. It fits better and snug around the face, still some glare.

That might have been made for a Safari one of the other Explorers..there is a very small difference between the two. I have a Safari and E trac, if i lay the covers on the table they look the same..just one wont fit the Etrac. I use mine for protection against rain. But since I now have an X-1 probe, I might just run without one since the sunray box isn't water resistant.

I had the same problem with the one from minelab does not fit well. They cut them too tight I heard. I got one frome sun ray and it is great, It fits excellent. I would use a cover of some sort no matter what just to keep the housing clean and keep the screen protected from scratches. I also bought a waterproof cover for my sun ray control box off a guy on ebay and it looks like it will work well also. Time will tell. HH all.

I heard that minelab is redesigning their Etrac Rain/dust covers. Apparently they are are listening to their customers.........NGE

Yes - the Minelab cover is really tough to get on and off - it's so tight the clear plastic bunches up and you can't even see the screen if it's sunny !

Just get a Sun Ray rain and dust cover - I use a cover for about 6 months - by then it's scratched enough that I replace it - on my third one now - it's a real cheap insurance policy for a very expensive metal detector !
And yes, any rain & dust cover makes the screen glare worse - but you kind of get use to it after a while.

Good luck ! --- Mark

That's probably why most hunt by tones, can't see the dang screen......:nopity:......NGE

Just ordered a Sun Ray cover. I will give that a try and see if it is better.

Sunray cover is the best, like mine.
