Having been part of the development process and initial field tests with this coil, I had the opportunity to test it on an XS, SE and Quattro. A fellow tester used it on his II. In all cases, the coil performed extremely well in terms of detection depth, stability when bumped against rocks, sticks or field stubble, and pinpoint capabilities. As people are noticing, Minelab finally moved the mounting point to the center of the coil which helps in terms of balance and perceived weight.
The comments some have made about being able to pinpoint better is a bit perplexing. The conventional method of switching to Pinpoint should bring you dead on but we have found that the "Wiggle" where you either pull the coil towards you ar push it away from you will have the audio drop off when the target is in the "notch" at the front or back of the coil everytime. If you are still have difficulty in pinpointing with the coil, bury a target at 5"-6" and mark the center and spend some time practicing. It won't take long until you won't even need to switch to pinpoint to zero in on the target.
With some 100 hours on the coil over the past months under a range of applications - salt beach, coins, relics - , I would be happy to field any questions on specific uses of the coil and how it compares to others (Minelab and most 3rd party coils we included in the testing) as we typically had two detectors with us to compare signal responses from one coil to another (using the same upper detector).
Overall, it provides better detection coverage with each sweep yet can be used in trashy sites with better results than some smaller coils, the weight is better when combined with the improved balance point allowing for longer time in the field without your shoulder / arm killing you, it hits better (more solid response) on targets at the edge of the detection field or on edge . . . . . and as several people have commented when they saw it, "It looks cool".
