1. A thin greenish layer that forms on copper or copper alloys as a result of corrosion. 2. The sheen on any surface, produced by age and use.

no need to name call either

Sorry, KIS...

Green is NOT GOOD on anything but ancient copper artifacts. Copper coins less than 1000 years old should not have any green..

A rock tumbler would have done better, I have cleaned several dug coins just to see how they come out. I have never seen one done that bad

HUH? what did they do ,gave it a acid bath they owe you 63 bucks

What the hell did they do to that coin??? Run it through a rock tumbler all day long??? They obviously don't have a clue what to do with any ground find copper or bronze coins. I have found many hundreds of Indians in my life with green verdigris on them and never did I make one look that terrible. Plain and simple they should have "CONSERVED" the natural green surface knowing what would have happened if they tried to remove it. That coin still had considerable value, now it is literally worthless as noone would ever accept it as a genuine 1877 Indian and not a crude cast fake. What a bummer to learn a lesson like that at the expense of your find of a lifetime. I'm hurtin' with you man! Here's hoping you find another one soon! HH, Mike.
