dose anyone use the PRO-TECTOR ?

What is it?

its on ebay and it fits around the handle and the back part where the battery goes so you can hunt in the rain or snow and fine sand or dirt

There's a recent thread on the e-trac classroom forum under "grip cover". It sounded good so I ordered one a couple days ago. It cost about $30.00 American. If it protects a $1000.00 investment it will be worth it. Gerry

I've seen them & wasn't all that impressed with them.----That's where I have my Sunray in-line probe mounted anyway (on the battery case).----I use a rain cover on the control box--gives the Etrac good protection.

That is where I have my Sun Ray in-line probe as well. I also use a rain cover on the control box that I got from Sun Ray. The one thing that I would like to protect is the hand grip to keep it from getting covered in dirt/mud. Does anyone have any ideas about what would be good for that?

I use tennis racket grip tape on my handle. Works great. Put it on right over the stock foam grip.

This is really kind of redneck low tech but the best thing that I've found is to wrap rag - like one of those red mechanic rags, 1/2 of a dish towel - around the handle and then I carry a couple of spare rags along in a plastic bag. This at least soaks up the slop and keeps thing managable.

Here's a photo of "Pro-Tector" - looks like it's being produced in the UK.

I've got one that is digital camo that Richard at Backwoods Detectors sent with my E-Trac, along with a matching rain cover for the control box. I keep the lower unit on all the time and just use the rain cover when needed.

I am moreso than you Curtis. I clean mine every trip back to the house. Don't get dirty hands either:clapping:

MAN !! you guys would freak out if you seen my etrac after the last few hunts. it gets so muddy you cant see the screen. ive had the grip so sloppy that it has slipped out of my hand more than once. i clean it every once in a while but i do keep it wrapped with electrical tape from the grip to the headfone jack. i cut the foam grip off shortly after i got it and i dont use a rain cover either. i just cover the seam on the control box with tape when its raining.

When I first got it i saran wrapped the handle down to the armcuff and then crisscrossed electrical tape around it. Did the same for the upper shaft only I completely covered the plastic wrap with electrical tape, overlapping 1/8 inch. Rain/dust cover too since the beginning...

I think its worth a little money/effort to protect such a highend- sensitive electronical device... will hold resale value a bit better too...

2 zincs, whatever works for you! HH

Got my PRO-TECTOR last week. Its well made and well worth the money and shipping.

Gday
my 20c worth...
I got a protector form UK when I 1st purchased my ET
It is well worth the small $ paid for it
Take it off and my detector is still like new underneath
Comfortable grip also
and I got one of their screen covers which is better than the Minelab one
Depends whether you want to look after your new investment (mine was $1500 Australian)
My friends ET looks scratched and dirt in all the crevaces , my is still 100%
