e-trac and gold prospecting-program

he everyone
i am new to this forum
i would like to go prospecting for gold nuggets.the nuggets in my aera are very smal.the smalest one would be arround 0.5gram and up.
that is propperly the size what i still can see.the ground here in canada is in my aera very difficult,lots of hot rocks and metals.
does someone know a program setting for this kind of detecting?
i say thank you..to everyone for any information.i can not download and watch videos because i am on dial-up only.
i enjoy you questions and answers very much.i learn a lot from it.

Hello wolfgang-s,

The FBS system is not really suited to prospecting.
There are other dedicated detectors for that task from Minelab, most notably the GPX series, Eureka Gold, SD series etc.
IF, if you were to use it you would have to scrub the coil into the ground, work in all metal (open screen) and move very slowly...e.g 1 foot per five seconds

Des is right on, The E-trac is a coin and relic detector. I had some great finds in ghost towns with the E-trac. When prospecting it's the GPX4500, or my Eureka Gold.

They have stated correct. The best minelab machine detector for gold in the coin hunting& gold would be the exterra 705 but for small gold I am not sure how it does.

I live in Western Australia, and prospect for gold with a GPX4500 and this is a brilliant detector. It will find nuggets as small as less than .1gm, in fact I have just come back from a trip where I found in 3 days, 204 small nuggets between .1 and .5 gms using a Nugget Finder 12x5" eliptical mono coil. I also own an E-trac to use in some areas where there is so much buried iron (rusted tin cans) from the old timers that I am intending to use it in those areas, as the 4500 is no where near as good at discriminating. I tried it (E-trac) in a rubbish area last trip and although I couldn't find any gold with it, I believe I will in other places, having seen how well it works at discriminating. So if you want to find tiny gold nuggets deep in areas that aren't too rubbish infested you can't go past the 4500. The 5000 is obviously even better at at the very small nuggets but will cost an extra $2000.

Wolfgang,

4500's in near new condition are selling second hand for around AU $4250 to $4500 in Australia but you may be able to find one cheaper in US where they sold for a cheaper price in the first place. They are not selling new 4500's in Australia, but I don't know about Kellyco in US. If you use an advantage coil made by Nugget Finder they are waterproof to 2' and will detect over or in water. Coiltek also make a wareproof coil called" Platypus" which I have used in the creeks in New Zealand with the 4500. I would definetly buy a 2nd hand 4500 but you must be very careful that it is not a Chinese copy. There are plenty of dealers in Aust and America where you can be sure of getting a genuine 2nd hand 4500.
