E-TRAC for gold will it work pros & cons

I am in the process of getting an excellent quality all around good detector. Is the E-TRAC also good for gold detecting? I also realize you can not have everything in one detector. I am trying to find a detector that can basically
do an all around good job on all types of buried treasures. Rather than spend high dollars for a detector just for gold I would like to have one that can also do some nugget hunting from time to time. Looking for feedback on
the E-TRAC for what is designed for as far as overall prospecting. Live in Northern California Sierra foothills a good area for all types of detecting. Thanks

I love the etrac and it will definitely find gold jewelry and with a small coil small gold items as well but it wouldn't be my choice for native gold hunting. Nuggets can be gold contaminated with all sorts of other metals and elements which makes them a bit more difficult to detect. Higher frequency machines should be more adept at what you're looking for but may be compromised on the other end of the scale. The Deus , F75s/T2s , ATs and some of the White's units are all versatile performers as well as the etrac. The F75s/T2s have the cache modes for deep treasures in the right locations if you learn to use them

When you say "Gold" you are you talking gold nuggets and the E-Trac would not be in line for that type of use,IMO. That is why most people ,including myself, have a dedicated machine such as a PI (pulse induction ) unit which is designed for nugget hunting. However, the E-Trac is the best coin detector out there.!!!....again IMO Best of Luck in choosing if only one is in the cards.

Ditto to what roadapple says!

If I was forced to own just one detector and I spent about equal time coin shooting as well as nugget hunting,
I think I would go with the XTerra 705.
It does both very well with lots of coil options.
