E-Trac grip protection

reltolbert

New member
Photo below on left shows a small car wash clothe, 2 girls hair stretch cords
which are easily mounted on the E-Trac grip to protect the black sponge material (right photo).

I use bat tape on all my machines. Easy to clean and very durable. That is a good job you have there RET. HH :minelab:

to protect the grip from what? or as more cushion ?

To protect the sponge material grip from dirt and moisture. When I go digging
a lot of dirt gets on my hands or the gloves I'm wearing, so therefore, the dirt is transferred
to that sponge grip which will wear out over time.
I just want to keep the E-Trac in good shape by protecting the grip and other parts of
the detector.

I wrap my foam grip with "wound tape" first. It sticks to itself and is non adhesive. Then I use padded vinyl handlebar tape sealed at the ends with electrical tape. It gives a good grip and is washable. Keeps foam in perfect condition underneath.

Bell-Two,

That's a good idea too. Thanks for the photos. This will give different choices for others so they can keep their E-Trac
foam grips in good shape just in case you may want to sell it someday and be able to get top dollar for it.

If you bought the ProTector cover for the Etrac instead of the cover you have pictured it would be covered.

The grip is too big already for my dinky girly carpal tunnel ridden hands, Making the grip bigger would just cause more pain than I want...

I use regular tennis overgrips, they are dirty cheap and has fantastic adherence.

Why would anyone want to sell their beloved Etrac? Perish the thought!..........NGE

I did a quick search and could only find these being sold in the UK. Is there anywhere here in the states to get one? Probably would get pretty expensive by the time it was shipped over here.

This picture is from our website. We are the US seller of this product.

Pro-tector makes a full line of covers. We have all the Minelab products in stock, and some other brands also.

i got a full set of Protector covers and control box cover when i first got my etrac less than a year ago
unfortunately the material they use is weak and just falls apart and splits along the seams and pressure points
also the stitching undoes itself

initially they looked like a good product but after a small amount of use in the field the materials and/or workmanship has proved to be inferior
i have had 4 -5 months off due to 3 operations in the last 12 mths and with 3 other detectors my etrac gets just light use
i would not waste my money on the same again as they do not last even 1 year

From what I see the quality has changed.....That is why I brought them onboard.

You may have gotten one of the first production runs. We find them to hold up well so far.

I have had mine for about 9 months and I hunt year round.

hi joe

i hope your right for anyone who buys one

i contacted steve in the uk to let him know about the poor quality / lifespan and he just said bad luck for you and we have now changed manufacturers
imho not really a good outcome for a buyer who feels he got a defective product

thanks
i think that would be better than forking out good money for the Protector product which just self destructs
or paying a company who is not interested in whether or not it has a defective product
and could not care less about rectifying the situation

Hate to hear that kind of response from any company,
especially one that is PROBABLY smaller or just starting up.
A customer that has a problem with a company's product and has the
company fix the problem fairly will almost always remain a customer and may
even become a better customer.
Your experience has made me NOT buy one even though it's cheap and even if they
have changed quality it's them not caring that did it for me.
Joe is still awesome and gets my business when I need things!
Good Luck,
