Both machines have their appeal, so I don't think that either company should feel threatened by a comparison. At the end of the day it's going to come down to the effectiveness of the operator anyway. If it came down to price, over here in Oz the E-Trac retail between AUD $1700-$1800. I suspect when the Vision finally lands here, the local Whites dealer is going to have to charge around AUD$2600 with out the headphones. (My best guess.) With the Aussie dollar @70c US, plus freight(around $100) and 10% GST (local sales tax) he'd be hard pressed to get it under that figure.

#1: Since White's licenses Minelab's technology, White's doesn't want to direclty harm minelab's e-trac sales by claims of the Vision's superiority.
#2: The Vision doesn't perform as well as the e-trac, and comparison is hence discouraged by White's.
Your right we should be able to express our opinions ! Afterall we are the people that buy and use them and if you listen to the dealers and there reps we get what they want us to hear to sell their machines.PS Do you have a shovelhead? I have a twin cam Ronutahshovelhead said:I have only been on the forum for a short while but WOW facts really get skewed here and lots of blurted statements are taken as factual. Yeah the V forum sponsors appear a little bit defensive and have removed mine and other posts about comparisons. Don't make more out of it than it is. Yes some Minlab technology patent expired and whites was able to use more of the Minlab technology in the Vision...that is called competition and shouldn't be a big surprise as lots of products improve that way. There is some great information and operation displays showing up on the forums and I am reading everything I can about the functions, likes, dislikes and performances of both machines that I can on the forums. If you don't know which one to get then I suggest you get neither. Hardly any dealers have the V in yet so you ll have to wait to buy it anyway. In the meantime put pressure on the Guys who do have Visions and E tracs to show you more of the machines and how different they are from each other...who knows you might find out you'd rather keep the machine you already have!
