E=Trac what?:

The day that I plug my MD into a computer is that day that I may as well just stay home and play video games.Come on give us something worth the extra bucks.
Just my opinion.:goodnight:

I'm under the impression that the only difference in the E-Trac and the Pro is that you can download search patterns and save search patterns to your PC. If this is true then it's not going to blow me away.I'd love to come down and surf the turf with you anytime but for the fact that I live with the bride from hell.Maybe you could come this way sometime or if I could just keep filing these bars.I could be free in a month or two.:starwars::buds:

My wife detests metal detecting and it's a constant battle for me to get out - but I do when I can. I wouldn't mind coming up maybe sometime in the fall to see what the ET can do. Let's keep in touch! :beers:

It is more than just a PC connection. The processor is much faster. Swing rates are able to be much faster without losing targets. The programming is more user friendly. The E-Trac has the more logical Ferrous to Conductive (left to right) readings. Better pinpointing. Faster start ups. More readable screen. And I am sure there are other advantages to the E-Trac that are not yet apparent. I've only experienced the E-Trac at a dealer for about an hour and a half. So far I really like what I see.

I have yet to hear of real world tests with depth comparing say.....a White's DFX, a TDI, A Fisher F75, a Minelab Explorer SE pro and other companies top of the line detectors in real world situations. It would be nice to have a Whatever is your favorite detector Magazine detector of the year with a shootout. Sort of like Motortrend and their car of the year.

Hey there is an idea! Hey metal detector manufacturers....send me all of your top of the line machines. I will do a video magazine of the shootout.......of course there will be travel expenses....which would be covered by the manufacturers.......like to Hawaii, California, Florida, Alaska............It is a dirty job but someone has to do it and it might as well be me.

I agree that sharing settings via a PC connection is more a frill then anything else, but there are a couple of very useful possibilities for a PC connection:
  1. Software or firmware updates directly from ML (it is, after all, just a microcomputer).
  2. Real-time, online diagnostics of possible problems.
These are just a couple that come to mind that could be quite useful...

I think the faster processor is a logical improvement... HOWEVER, I'll reserve judgment on the balance of the "improvements" to see how the filter out. It's only been a few days in the "real" world. I'm sure that by Halloween, we'll all know the Good, the Bad and Everything In-Between.

I agree most people will not be able to afford to find out what their missing.....
And even if they do try one it may be to deep for a lot of peoples digging abilities
everyone of my partners where blown away by the depth.... that being said ..
..My focus will NOT be on guessing johnnies, nor Finds, It will be on getting to be ONE with this New Machine!
MineLab really went all out on this one........ Mastering This DOG will Pay........Like to Thank Rigit for the accel sheet and KY digger for his data logging

you will not ever be able to flash any program changes with the USB, it can be used for saving patterns, but not even creating them.. only changes you can make in the pattern are settings like gain etc.. still a good thing since it is going to be much easier to set up a program on the computer than pushing buttons.. so you create your pattern on the Etrac and save it, upload to computer and hopefully then can adjust the other settings with that pattern.. I haven't read the manual yet on the computer program, just a little of what I hear from the insiders.. You know I understand keeping a new machine a secret.. just wish they would actually come out and ask what we would be willing to give up, or improve upon for an improvement in future machines.. not just what they think we want.. I really can not see how that would be a big deal... I guess we are too far down the food chain to be worthy of being listened too... I think it has a lot to do with the thinking we cant give them everything they want at once or we wont be able to improve upon anything in the next model, then no one would buy new machines.. so you get small improvements from one to another.. fine

BUT THEY SHOULDNT TAKE SOMETHING AWAY AND CHARGE MORE!
