E-trac

Hello Everyone
Just got my E-trac in last night. Have not got to try it yet, but plan on taking it out tomorrow. I have a Vision and an MXT and plan on doing some comparisions. Will try to post my opinions later.

Looking forward to the comaprison between the vision and E-Trac..I considered the Vision for a few min before i Went with the E-Trac myself..Let us know what you think..Thx HH

This should be interesting!!

I still can't believe there haven't been more comparisons between the ETrac and V3.

Got out for about 1.5 hrs at a local park. I can say in that short period of time I really like what I saw. Very stable. I didn't have time to dig any deep signals of which there were many. I will have to use it for awhile. I read a lot before I got it and used the emulator. Seems easier to use than the DFX or Vision as they both have problems with EMI. Using them made using the E trac a lot easier. I think I will keep this one

Hello,
Are you comparing the E-Trac to the V3 and DFX or MXT? Your 1st post said MXT and last one said DFX. Thanks for the testing these great machines.

I had the DFX and used it for about 1 yr and sold it and bought the Vision about the first day it was out.

Can't wait to hear further results. I can't speak for the V3, but the E-Trac has already lived up to what I expected.

I have about 4 or 5 months on the vision. It is an awesome detector. I like the color screen and the analyze mode. I only have a couple of hrs on the E trac. So far it is an awesome detector. They are both great. I didn't seem to have as much trouble with elecrical interference on the E trac as I do with the Vision. I need more time on the e trac

Got out for the first time today at an older park with the Etrac. Got a 1920 wheat, 1899 indian head and a 1942 merc. Am very impressed with the Etrac. Not as hard to setup and use as I imagined it would be. I think I will really like it once I get to know it.

I seemed to only be able to get about 5 or 6 inches. I want to take them together and compare when I use the etrac a little more

The E-Track and the Vision V3 are so different I just don't see how you will get a decent comparison in a few weeks use.
If you are after a turn on and go, beep and dig, type detector there are a lot of other cheaper and easier to use detectors that will fit that requirement.
Both the E-Track and the Vision will do that but to get the real advantages that both can offer, you need to know the machine very well.
That takes a lot of time in the field and a quick comparison is not gonna show anything meaningful.
These detectors are very advanced and require the user to be somewhat advanced to get the best out of them.
If you are not willing to invest the time then you are not making a very wise choice investing that much money into a high end detector.

Which machine is better?
I can tell you.
The one you prefer and take the time to learn to use proficiently is the best one.
White's or Minelab, Ford or Chevy, they both are good machines that will become even better in the hands of an experienced and skilled user.
But don't waste your money unless you are willing to invest the time.

I don't mean to sound negative but in order to even start getting the hang of the Etrac and the characteristics of the deep signals you will need at least 100 hrs of use in the field. I have several thousand hours on the Etrac and over 300 silvers for this year and I can tell you from experience that there is no shortcuts. I am still learning new things on this great machine.

Sharpshooter you are correct. Realistically over 1000 hrs use with the Etrac. Seems like more:nerd:
I've owned the machine almost 1 year and I detect between 25-30 hrs a week.

I know what you mean, John.
I hunt about 10 to 12 hours per week on average.
With all my aches and pains it seems like much more.
Sure is fun though.
